Dr. Hugg has 30 years of experience in Healthcare business and academics. He worked with Dr. Patt as CTO of Gamma Medica, Inc., where they developed and launched the company’s molecular breast imaging (MBI) product.
He was Senior Vice-President for Engineering, R&D, and Medical Products at Kromek, a manufacturer of the high-tech CZT detector arrays used in MBI.
His 11-year career at GE Healthcare as Manager of Physics R&D and Six Sigma Master Black Belt spanned molecular imaging (nuclear medicine) and MRI. He also worked as a Senior Research Physicist at the GE Global Research Center, specializing in advanced applications of CZT detectors.
Dr. Hugg was an NIH Fellow in Radiology at the University of California, San Francisco, a Senior Staff Investigator in Neurology at Henry Ford Health Science Center in Detroit, and Assistant Professor of Neurology and Bioengineering at the University of Alabama, Birmingham.
Dr. Hugg has published over 50 papers, 3 book chapters, and holds 19 patents. He has been Principal Investigator on over $2 million in healthcare research grants.
He earned a BS in Physics and Economics at the California Institute of Technology (CalTech) and a PhD in Nuclear Physics with an Electrical Engineering minor at Stanford University.
